Facing Issues at work

Whether you are new at a place of work or a seasoned employee, problems do occur. Either amongst co-workers, bosses or on the job. Let’s take a drive to having issues with a boss like Timi had issues with Engineer Adeleke.
Figuring out how to be part of a new work culture can at times be frustrating, getting to know your coworkers, building trust, being on the right side of your employer and all that may seem easy to some but to others it may feel like a huge bridge to cross. In Timi’s situation, remember he was filling the rather large shoes of his late father, stepping on some toes and more so inheriting some corporate foes was not too farfetched.

He started of being friendly, Engineer Adeleke hoping Timi would be in his team of folks that would agree to his idea of diversifying. Diversifying into oil business. But in the board meeting at Infotech IT Solutions, Timi made his intentions clear point blank showing that the company did not need to diversify at that particular moment but rather needed to grow on the Information Technology legacy his father had started. Unknown to Timi his decision was the emergence of an enemy in the making.

We don’t always have to be in agreement with others opinions. Opinions can diverse and everyone has theirs to share, but in an environment where only one opinion can thrive, some adamant folks ensure it is theirs that will. After Engineer Adeleke was certain that his idea of diversifying would not see the light of day,  he connived with Uche using Tobi as a tool to steal Timi’s idea and present it to the board leaving Timi short of words and too distraught to embark on his own presentation. Now this is a clear example of when people feel their opinion just have to thrive even if it is someone else’s idea.

Confronting your corporate foe might be a hard nut to crack. They come in various forms as perpetual bullies, disagreeable coworkers or bosses, whiners, complainers, saboteurs, back stabbers, harassers, discriminators or what not, in whatever form they come in, finding a balance at the work front will always be paramount, so how do we combat our corporate foe? Search endlessly how to convert them to friends and allies, or nib them at the bud just like how Timi resulted to combat Mr. Adeleke by beating him at his own game.
